Construction & Operation of Tiaano’s Chemical free Electrolytic Scale Remover

ElSr is an independent equipment, getting installed separately out of the Heat exchanger’s cooling water circuit. Water from the cooling tower reservoir is continuously circulated through the ElSr via circulation pump. Process of scale remover is getting carried out, when the ElSr is connected to power and water flow through it. Its construction is purely by using corrosion resistant materials of GRP, UPVC & Platinum group precious metal oxide coated titanium.

Electrolytic action in ElSr:

DC current passes from the cathode, through the electrolyte (water) in the reaction tank, to the anode. Due to the electrolysis process, the floating calcium molecules are deposited on the cathode and the water is returned to the cooling tower free of calcium. The chemical reaction on ElSr cathodes are as follows:

Ca (HCO3)2 + 2OH-   → CaCO3↓ + 2H2O + CO3 -2

Mg (HCO3)2 + 4OH-   → Mg (OH)2↓ + 2H2O + 2CO3 -2

Mg (HCO3)2             → MgCO3↓ + 2H2O + CO2↑

Electrochemical reaction produces OH ions, which causes scale to sink to the bottom of the tank, produces corrosion preventing copper and iron ions and create an environment that prevents the development of harmful micro-organisms. Scale that accumulate on the bottom of the reaction tank is extracted by drain valve.
