 Scaling occurs when the chemistry and temperature conditions are such that the dissolved mineral salts in the water are caused to precipitate and form solid deposits.

Dissolved calcium and magnesium salts are primarily responsible for most scaling in pipes and water heaters and cause numerous problems in cooling tower water circuits.

 It is important to control scaling in your cooling tower through a regular preventative maintenance program. If the tower fill has scaling, that deposit minimizes the amount of air the cooling tower fan can pull through to efficiently cool the bulk water.
